SD Biosensor becomes first foreign company to manufacture COVID-19 test kits in India; Ambassador tours the company's manufacturing plant

Indian Ambassador Ms. Sripriya Ranganathan visited the manufacturing facility of M/s SD Biosensor Inc. in North Chungcheong Province. Company CEO Mr. Lee Hyo-Keun and other company officials escorted Ambassador on a tour of the facility and made a presentation on the company's production and strength as well as current focus on COVID-19 tests.

2. The company has also set up an Indian subsidiary M/s SD Biosensor Healthcare Pvt Ltd in India. The Indian subsidiary has commenced production of COVID-19 rapid antibody testing kits in its plant in Manesar, Haryana with a capacity of 500000 tests per week. The first batch was already rolled out on April 19, 2020. This is an excellent example of India's "Make In India for World" as the company plans to ramp up production to meet growing demand in India as well as other part of the world.

3. The strategy and corporate structure of this company exemplifies the strong India-RoK partnership specially in the field of medical technology. The company is sourcing required materials for manufacturing its diagnostic test kits in RoK from India. The Korean company capitalises on India’s low cost, high quality resources and skilled & technical workforce to enhance its global marketshare and profits, thereby creating a win-win situation. In yet another demonstration of cooperation being extended by the Indian and Korean Governments to each other in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, M/s SD Biosensor Ltd was granted licence by the Government of India to manufacture the COVID-19 rapid test kits in a very short period of time.

4. Earlier in the day, Chairman Young-Shik Cho of M/s SD Biosensor called on Ambassador and explained the company’s strategy for their operations in India.
